Class 2.1 2021-2022
Year 2 Spelling Rules and Guidance
This week the children have been busy creating their own rainforest animal hand puppets in D&T. They have been learning to sew with the running stitch and then followed their design to decorate their puppets with different materials and resources.
We even had a special visitor in our classroom!
The children were very excited to see Eggnog and we wonder what he might get up to next.
2.1 were wonderful in our KS1 Christmas production earlier this week. We were all very proud!
The class enjoyed playing a game this week in Maths to practice finding a 2-digit number on a number line and identifying the nearest multiple of 10.
2.1 have been working hard in our handwriting sessions, we have been focusing on our letter formation.
Year 2 had a wonderful time at the cinema watching two Julia Donaldson short films. The children were well behaved and were great role models for the school.
As part of our Science topic, 'Living Things and Their Habitats', 2.1 went outdoors to find things that are living, dead or never been alive.
Year 2 went on a walk to explore our school grounds, which inspired our recount writing in English. We went to take a look at the dragon bench, visited the lookout and the eco bus and finally read a story.
2.1 have been inspired by Henri Rousseau's 'Tiger in a Tropical Storm' painting. They created their own interpretation by sketching their chosen Big Cat and a rainforest background.
In our PE lesson, the class enjoyed practicing their throwing and catching skills. Great teamwork from all in our group games.
Explore Learning came to visit us and we loved taking part in a Fairy Tale themed English workshop. The children were encouraged to be fearless in their learning. They had to role play a character and then looked at writing sentences to retell a fairy tale.
Year 2 have been learning about number and place value in Maths. They were playing the 'Make 100' game in their groups, which involved regrouping ones into tens.
