"I am just emailing to thank you for the opportunity to come into the school for a visit as link governor for geography and ESD. I had an insightful and enjoyable day and felt very welcome. Overall I was most impressed by the children’s attitudes and manners. The children I spoke to were polite, enthusiastic, full of ideas and proud of their roles and school, which is clearly encouraged by the supportive learning environment within the school. It was also great to see the end of the Assembly and hear and watch the excitement of the children when they heard about the new playground equipment that it is being installed.
But I would also like to say a thank you to the two Year 3 pupils who were kind enough to take me round the school in order to take photos of the Geography and ESD boards and who missed most of their morning break in order to do this. Finally, I would also like to thank the pupils who joined me for the Geography Pupil Voice Session and the members of the Eco Squad who met with me on the day.
Please could you pass on my thanks to all those involved".
NEW LEADERSHIP OF OUR GOVERNING BODY AND NEWS REGARDING MONTHS TO COME. A message from our new Chair of Governors, Debbie Cole.
Thank you for welcoming me as Howe Dell's new Chair of Governors which is a great privilege. I have been on the Governing Body here since March 2014 having been Vice Chair and parent governor previously. I am Link Governor for English and part of the Resources Committee where my background in HR comes in useful. Before moving out of the area I had 2 children at Howe Dell so I have experienced first hand what the school offers from Day Care to Breakfast Clubs and into mainstream schooling.
Outside of Howe Dell I graduated from University in Earth Sciences and have since gained over 15 years experience in recruitment and HR. I am now the Head of Resourcing for a multi-national engineering organisation which gives me a slightly different perspective to enhance my role at Howe Dell! I have a passion for people and learning and I look forward to working with you all over the coming months.
Response from Mrs Massey
'The staff especially Senior Leaders and I would like to extend a warm welcome to Debbie in her new role. We are also delighted to announce Julia Ellis-Hall will support Debbie as Vice Chair, whilst after 16 years our beloved Brian Dummer (Mr Hatfield as known and respected in so many ways in our town) will stand down at the end of the year. More details to follow on how this tremendous commitment will be marked nearer the time.'
