Reception Induction Powerpoint Information - 2017

30 Hours Free Child Care

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you have been made aware, the Government will be offering all 3 and 4 year old's 30 hour funding from September 2017. Howe Dell School and Howe Dell Day Care are working in partnership, following responses from the Day Care questionnaire, to look at how this could work.

A meeting to discuss the 30 hour funding has been held between Head Teacher of Howe Dell School, Debra Massey, and our Early Years Foundation Stage Team. Next, we will be consulting with our School and Day Care Governing Body.

Thank you for your patience and we will keep you updated with any developments.

For more information please visit the Department of Education website

Admission Arrangements for Primary, Junior and Middle Schools 2017-18

If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admission arrangements below.
Nursery Places

Howe Dell has a 60 place Nursery which runs both morning and afternoon sessions. Each child is entitled to 5 free half day sessions per week. Parents of pre-nursery and nursery age children will each receive their Nursery packs automatically from Hertfordshire County Council. This contains information on how to apply online or by post for their place.  It is important to ensure forms are returned by the date given.

Reception Places

'Starting School' packs are sent out automatically by Hertfordshire County Council to families who have children due to start Reception class. Howe Dell uses the LEA's criteria for Admissions to Primary Schools as the basis for the allocation of parties.  As of September 2011 there will be changes to the admission of children starting Reception class.  There will now be only one intake per year, in September, for Reception pupils. We have 60 places in our Reception Year.

In-Year Admissions

For any enquiries about in-year admissions or to place your child on the waiting list for Howe Dell please contact Admissions at Hertfordshire County Council on 0300 123 4043.
