Young Cultural Ambassadors

What are Young Cultural Ambassadors?

This Hertfordshire programme aims to increase opportunities for children to participate in the arts and culture, develop leadership skills, and create new connections between primary and secondary schools and cultural organisations. It supports children to champion and enhance their local cultural offer and increase engagement in cultural activity amongst their peers.

We are beginning our fourth year with YCAs at Howe Dell. They have previously had opportunities to visit the Royal Opera House, the University of Hertfordshire, attend a variety of meetings and workshops, had access to organisations in school such as DanceDigital and arranged school activities such as a writing competition and a trip to watch the Nutcracker Ballet broadcast live at our local cinema.

The YCAs are currently looking forward to our exciting trip to the Roundhouse Theatre in London to watch a dance production called The Mad Hatters Tea Party.  Mrs Blow applied for tickets through their 'schools matinee' system.  Watch this space for news about our trip!

The Madhatters Tea Party

The YCA's were lucky enough to be allocated tickets to see a dance production at the Roundhouse Theatre in London called The Madhatters Tea Party.  This was through the Royal Operah House schools matinee opportunities.

What have we been up to?
The YCAs had a lovely time completing a workshop with Mrs Massey as part of our 'Space and Time Travel' week. They used view finders to observe a display of Star Wars toys and then explored a range of media to create contrasting images in black and white.
Thank you to YCA for an excellent pitch for a creative Wonder Day in January. More information to follow, but inspired by a local artist and will involve every class and family learning too.
