Except in phonics outcomes are overall lower than 2014. This cohort’s  GLD (Good level of Development) at end Reception was 25%. (Whilst low, this was verified via moderation from Herts County Council and in consultation with other schools)

As reported by our Hertfordshire Improvement Partner:

'...School systems and processes are strong and embedded at all levels of leadership. Senior leaders have continued to address priorities with rigour. The new SLT are strong and focused on the right areas for development because monitoring and evaluation is highly effective. Though there is much to celebrate in this year’s results some are overall lower than 2014 because of specific cohort contexts. However these do not detract from the priority identified and therefore the school has made good progress.'

Outcomes in progress and Achievement Summer 2015 for Y6: Head's Summary

Prom for Y6 2015 to celebrate many achievements in and beyond the classroom

'I just wanted to thank staff for the work they have put into collating our data and the day to day impact their energy and professionalism has on outcomes for the children in our care.

  • Foundation Stage produced an increased good level of development whilst still impacted as expected due to needs of some pupils,

  • Phonics in Y1 is a much improved outcome since last year.

  • Meanwhile our Y2 have made good strides in progress this year, despite pupils having varying starting points.

  • Y6 pupils have exceeded National standards set in 2014 and whilst challenging targets have been broadly met, 7 children achieved Level 6 for Maths is exceptional attainment and reaffirms how well we extend able pupils.

  • Reports and other feedback from parents are overwhelmingly positive and the children's enthusiasm spills out of reports with many being case studied as exemplary progress over the year. Any queries raised have been followed up by senior members of staff.

  • The on going value of the ‘Howe Dell experience’ was reaffirmed by GCSE and A Level candidates returning to Howe Dell this week who so articulately shared in Mrs. Chalmers’ Assembly on Thursday: Once Howe Dell, always Howe Dell.'
